Thoughts: This song may sound familiar to you as the original version (1983) was sampled by Kanye West for his opening track Dark Fantasy from his 5th studio album My Beautiful Dark Twisted Fantasy. While I love the song Dark Fantasy I find myself listening to In Higher Places more often. I appreciate the suspense Oldfields creates with the use of high hats and the inflection of his voice specifically on the second verse in which he sings “Check out, did you check your heart”?
