Thoughts: Back to the Wu we go. Last night I began reading the Tao of Wu a book written by RZA from the Wu-Tang Clan. RZA in this book lays out how he has obtained wisdom through lessons from the 5% Nation of Gods and Earths, Christianity, Kung-Fu, meditation, chess, traveling, music, and film. As I was reading I felt a peculiar sensation where in which time seemed to stand still and I could not put the book down. I was particularly moved by how RZA talked about chess saying when people ask him what piece he is on the board he replies ” I’m no piece. I take the position of God”. Even if the king gets checkmate it doesn’t stop me. It’s the king that got checkmated, not me” (p.33). In this chess example, RZA delivers a profound perspective on life and that is essential to focus on the controllables and if something happens outside of your control don’t trip out you’re gonna be good.
