Thoughts: Good Morning. Currently, I am designing a short course rethinking the Civil Rights Movement. In this course I really want to disrupt the idea of non-violence as just being this kumbaya thing. And I want to show that non-violence forms of protest are forms of civil disobedience and inherently produce violence against the state. In the words of Malcolm X ” Anytime you tell a man to turn the other cheek or to be nonviolent in the face of a violent enemy, you’re making that man defenseless. You’re robbing him of his God-given right to defend himself”.
