Thoughts: Happy Wednesday! I can’t believe this is the last day of August. This year is just moving so fast. To my thoughts for today, I have mentioned this before I really believe the truth is love and I think we need to radically love each other. This may be a naive perspective or a trivial thing to think but to quote the late great John Lennon “You may say I’m a dreamer
but I’m not the only one, I hope someday you’ll join us”. So yes it may be an unpopular thing to think but I know I am not the only one who thinks this because I have been taught this truth through love. In addition , I have been able to read this truth and study this truth from the likes of bell hooks and Cornel West who were documenting this truth at a time when this idea was super unpopular. So I thank them today for their courageousness and for showing me the radical potential of love. And, so when I hear this song it confirms this truth particularly when Taboo procalims The truth is kept secret, and swept under the rugg. If you never know truth, then you never know love. Where’s the love, y’all? Come on (I don’t know). And where’s the truth, y’all? Come on (I don’t know). And where’s the love y’all”? Therefore, to find the truth we need to find love, and to find love we need to know the truth. Go look for the truth today.
On another note, I was on the phone with my Grandmother this morning for the first time in about two months. I am not gonna cap I been bull shittin’ I haven’t been good about communicating. But this morning I made the decision to call her and I am so happy I did. We had such a wonderful conversation. My favorite part of our conversation is I made her laugh, and this brought me immense joy. I tell you this short story to encourage you to reach out to your loved ones. Specifically, reach out to those who go before you because on a very meta level like you wouldn’t be here without their love. Even if you might not have the best relationship with them I encourage you still reach out to get love through closure because you might need to have that conversation for your love of self. Keep in mind there are many different ways to love. Most importantly, it is very difficult to love others if you do not love yourself first. Be kind to yourself. Love and Peace!
