About

Hello, welcome to Coffee with Chuck this archive is curated by me, Charles Allen Ross. Coffee with Chuck is designed for me to express my thoughts on anything and everything. As an artist I am interested in the question of “What does it mean to be Black and alive in an antiBlack world”? To answer this question I examine Black cultural productions and Black geographies where Blackness and life is redefined and reimagined. I hold a PhD in American Studies and Culture from Washington State University.Currently,I am Assistant Professor at Allegheny College. I teach in the Community and Justice Studies Department as well as the Education Studies Program. In my teaching I prompt my students to think about their role as democratic citizens and productive community members.

A little bit about me, I am from Columbus, Ohio and in my work I attempt to continue the great tradition of Ohio writers like Toni Morrison, Paul Laurence Dunbar, and Hanif AbdurraqibI. I am a hip-hop enthusiast and a film buff. These two passions not only influence my work but they guide the way I live and move throughout the world.
